Low visibility: Vehicles damaged in pile-up at Shastri Nagar
Due to fog, three vehicles crashed and piled up in the Shastri Nagar area of North-west Delhi on Wednesday night. The accident took place after a Toyota Camry rammed into a stationary auto followed by other vehicles hitting one after another.
According to police, the incident took place at around 11 pm. The driver of an auto plying on the road lost control over the vehicle, but managed to stop it after applying sudden breaks. The visibility was extremely low due to fog when vehicles coming from behind could not notice the stationary TSR on the road and rammed into it one after another. The injured persons were taken to the hospital for treatment.
A senior police official said, “First, a Toyota Camry rammed into the auto followed by a Mahindra champion, which hit against Camry. In the accident, all the three vehicles were damaged. There were more vehicles which collided, but escaped with minor damages. A case under appropriate sections of the IPC has been registered against the TSR driver, Ajay Kumar Yadav, in his connection.”
The incident came to light when one of the injured persons made a PCR call and informed police about the incident. The injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital and were discharged soon after first aid treatment. The condition of all the victims is out of danger, the official said.
