CBI on trail of Bhanwari body now
To trace the remains of nurse Bhanwari Devi, who the CBI believes has been killed, its sleuths are busy scanning photographs taken by low-flying remote sensing cameras around Jaloda, her body is suspected to be disposed of.

Interrogation of alleged mastermind Sahiram revealed that the Bishnaram gang, to whom the body of the nurse was handed over on September 1, might have burnt or buried her in this area as Bishnaram belongs to this village, about 60 km from Jodhpur.

Om Prakash, younger brother of Bishnaram, who is in CBI custody, has provided some clues as to how and where the body of the nurse was disposed of.

Meanwhile, the CBI, for the past two days, has been interrogating Leela, wife of sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna.

Call details of Sahiram, a close Maderna associate, reveal that he had spoken to Leela several times on the day Bhanwari was kidnapped. He also remained in touch with her after the incident. The CBI believes Leela was well aware of the conspiracy, if not part of it.

As Bhanwari used to claim that her third child, seven-year-old Gungun was born of her relations with Congress MLA Malkhan Singh, already under arrest, the CBI had taken blood samples of the girl and Malkhan for a DNA test.

Bhanwari’s husband Amarchand, meanwhile, has withdrawn his petition opposing his daughter’s DNA test. Sources said Amarchand is willing to become an approver in the case. His statement, under Section 164, had been recorded before a magistrate.

Initially, the CBI suspected Amarchand was aware of the conspiracy to eliminate his wife, but has now concluded that he was not involved.
