Three more held for NRHM scam

Three more held for NRHM scam
A day after the arrest of General Manager of Jai Nigam, PK Jain in multi-crore rupees scam in National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) on Thursday, the CBI arrested of three more suspects — ex-DG (Medical & health and Family welfare), Dr SP Ram, GM of UPSIC, Abhay Kumar Vajpayee and former minister Babu Singh Kushwaha’s close aide, Saurabh Jain. They were later produced in a CBI court at Ghaziabad before being sent to jail.

The trio were found prima facie guilty of huge irregularities in the job of upgradation on 134 hospitals along with purchase of medicines, computers and ambulances.

The CBI sleuths also stumbled upon the fact Saurabh Jain was a small time medicine shop a few years back. But due to his closelink with Kushwaha suddenly became a billionaire in a very short time. Earlier, the CBI had established that Babu Singh Kushwaha bend rules and official norms to make fast money.

Well placed sources further disclosed that the CBI was now quizzing a representative Surgeon Medi Equip Private Ltd, identified as Girish Malik. The firm is owned by Saurabh Jain and it is suspected that Kushwaha had reportedly pumped in huge cash into it. Malik is also likely to be booked in the case.

Besides four officials of Jal Nigam who were named in the FIR by the CBI on Thursday, were also quizzed. The premier agency is likely to quiz Kushwaha a second time before finally affecting his arrest in connection with the NRHM rip-off.

Meanwhile, the CBI also issued notices to some advertising firms who had released advertisements of Doordarshan and Akashvani in Lucknow for promotion of NRHM schemes.

The firms were asked to furnish details of advertisements worth over Rs 20 crore released in the last five years.
