Country’s future at stake as UPA paralysed: Modi
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday raised doubts about India’s future as the UPA-led Centre appeared to be paralysed with its vote bank politics in the run-up to elections in five States.
Rounding up the day-long Sadbhavana fast at Amreli in Saurashtra region, Modi said the UPA Government is so embroiled in corruption, inflation and vote bank politics that developmental work had come to a standstill.
The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs 1,111 crore for 2,200 new development projects in Amreli district. Another Rs 300 crore allocation was announced for the Balapur irrigation project and Santli dam projects.
Nearly 25,000 people from all the eleven talukas of Amreli district had converged at the venue to greet Modi during his day-long fast. As a matter of routine, the district Congress leaders, including former MP Virjibhai Thummar, held a parallel Satkarma fast in the town. Modi’s next one-day fast would be held at Bharuch on Sunday.
