    In yet another instance of customs officials foiling duty evasion attempt by a celebrity, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza was fined Rs 1.5 lakh for carrying undeclared goods on her arrival at the international airport here from Bangkok in the early hours of Saturday.

    Thirty-year-old Mirza was intercepted by customs officials, when she was passing through the green channel shortly after she arrived by a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok at 2 am.

    The customs officials found that she was carrying goods like cosmetics and branded purses valued at Rs two lakh which she had not declared.

    On being questioned by the customs officials about her carrying undeclared goods, the actress feigned ignorance about the customs rules and said she did not intend to evade duty. Mirza was allowed to go by the officials after paid Rs 1.5 lakh as penalty.

    Mirza, who turned a producer last year and co-produced Love Breakups and Zindagi with co-star Zyed Khan, denied news reports that she was carrying undeclared jewellery. “For those that are running unverified news about me please be informed that I was not questioned by customs for undeclared jewellry. #false,” she tweeted.

    With Saturday’s development, Mirza has joined the league of more than half a dozen celebrities who were either intercepted or detained and fined during the last one year on their arrival at the city airport from various international destinations.
