NRHM rip-off: Silicon India MD arrested
Sleuths of the CBI probing the NRHM rip-off arrested the Managing Director of Silicon India Limited, GK Batra in Lucknow taking the number of arrests in this connection to five. The CBI however preferred not to disturb the prime accused in the multi-crore scam and former minister of Family Welfare in the BSP government, Babu Singh Kushwaha, who recently joined the BJP.
As per reports, the CBI after registering a case of bungling of over Rs 3 crore in the purchase of computers under the NRHM scheme in Lucknow office, produced him in a Special Court of the CBI in Lucknow Within an hour of picking him up.
Batra was sent on a three-day judicial remand. The court has fixed January 9 as the next date of hearing. The probe agency is also expected to initiate an inquiry against Jal Nigam general manager PK Jain under Disproportionate Assets case as huge wealth has been identifed in his name and that of his kin.
Besides, the CBI was still grilling another former Director of Medical & health and Family welfare Dr RR Bharti along with Girish Malik of Surgeon Medi Equip Private Ltd (owned by Saurabh Jain in which ut Kushwaha reportedly pumped in money). Four officials of Jal Nigam who were named in the FIR by CBI were also quizzed and th sleuths are expected to go ahead with more arrest in the next 24-hours.
