Special units back in action
The Special Cell of Delhi police in concert with the Crime Branch have scored the maximim hits in 2011. The most notable being the busting of pan India Indian Mujahideen (IM) module. This led to unmasking the real culprits and four bomb blasts were claimed to have been solved.
Commissioner of Police BK Gupta said that the Special Cell of Delhi police had started a pan-India operation to nab terrorists after the Parliament attack in 2001. The operation yielded results then as there was a pause in terror-related cases upto the year 2005. The operation, however, yielded substantial results in 2011 as more than 23 terrorists have been arrested this year. They aim at dissolving a terror group in order to make the operatives ineffective. The idea is to keep the operatives on run, so that they do not reunite and plan another attack.
According to a latest data of the Delhi police, a total number of 23 terrorists, including 7 of Indian Mujahideen, 4 Hizbul Mujahideen, 9 insurgents of North-East and 3 BKI terrorists, have been arrested by Delhi Police in the year 2011. Busting the pan-India IM module is considered the most important of all cases. The Special Cell, in close association with the Crime Branch, arrested seven suspected IM operatives from all over the country. They were suspected to be involved in terror-related cases in 2010, namely Pune German Bakery blast, Bangalore Chinnaswamy Stadium blast and Jama Masjit Shootout and blast.
