Rain, hailstorm lash several parts of city
Heavy rains coupled with hailstorm lashed the national capital at some places in the late evening hours on Friday. Light showers were also reported in the early morning hours from some parts of the city and the National Capital Region. Late evening rains led to water-logging on major arterial roads in south and south-west Delhi.

Heavy rains occurred in Lodhi Road, Jor Bagh, INA, Safdarjang Enclave, AIIMS, Green Park, Munirka, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Delhi Cantonment and Dwarka. This slowed down the traffic flow on major arterial roads important roads including Rao Tula Ram Marg, Shanti Path, Ashoka Road, Ring Road and Outer Ring Road. The winter showers on Friday are expected to be followed by further dip in temperature after the mercury oscillated 8 to12 degrees Celsius for few days. Due to the rain there was marginal difference in the day’s maximum and minimum temperature. While the maximum recorded at 16.9 degree Celsius and a minimum at 12.4 degree Celsius.

Met predicts a fall in temperature by five degrees from Saturday night.

A total of 11.1 mm of rain (till 5.30 pm) was received by parts of south and west Delhi, parts of NCR cities of Noida and Ghaziabad bringing a slight fall in the maximum temperature. A spell of drizzle is also expected on Saturday morning, before fog will take over and a fall in temperature by about five degrees is expected. Met says that the rain is the effect of the western disturbance. “The winds coming from the Mediterranean are carrying moisture with them. More drizzle is expected on Saturday morning, before the fog sets in,” said the airport Met Director RK Jenamani. Jenamani also informed that a dense fog is likely to build on Saturday morning. While the visibility at the airport runway is likely to be above normal on Saturday morning, Jenamani has cautioned that the visibility at the Delhi airport is likely to be at zero degrees on Sunday morning.
