‘Our tainted Minister first approached Cong’
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) said tainted Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha had first approached the Congress, knowing full well that it was one of the most corrupt parties, but the deal did not materialise due to unknown reasons.
“It is no longer a secret that a party which calls itself clean tried its best to rope in a former Minister discarded by BSP. Kushwaha had a meeting with senior leaders of the Congress in New Delhi but the deal did not materialise,” said BSP State president Swamy Prasad Maurya in a statement on Sunday.
Reacting to charges levelled by Congress national general secretary Rahul Gandhi during his rallies in Gorakhpur and Deoria, Maurya said the Gandhi scion called BSP a corrupt party “but ours is the party which disowned Kushwaha when his involvement in the NRHM scam came to light. Then he approached the Congress. Why did he go to the Congress?”
“This is because everyone knows the character of the Congress and how its leaders had made money in recent scams. This shows which party is clean and which is corrupt,” the BSP State president quipped.
Maurya said Rahul Gandhi claims that the Congress can change the face of Uttar Pradesh within 10 years. “He should tell the masses how the Congress will achieve this. This party had ruled the State for over 40 years. If in those years, it could not bring this State to the path of development, how can it achieve the same in 10 years?” he mocked.
“Theatrics like eating roti with Dalits or sleeping in their huts will not fetch the Congress votes. People want to know what the party could do for them. And in this respect the Congress is a big failure,” said Maurya.
