HC seeks CBI, ED status report in Koda scam
The Jharkhand High Court has asked the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit a status report in the multi-crore money laundering scam by Madhu Koda and his associates.

Hearing the medical report of Madhu Koda, along with his three aides Kamlesh Singh, Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Vijay Joshi, submitted by the IG (Prisons), the court observed that there was no need to keep them at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Kamlesh, however, will remain at RIMS for some time more until he recuperates completely.

On the basis of the reports submitted by the medical committee of doctors from the Army and RIMS, the IG (Prisons) had, on Monday, filed an affidavit in which it had been said that all four accused persons had been found fit to an extent that they do not need to be hospitalised. The board further said their ailments could be treated in the jail hospital itself or in the OPD of RIMS.

A division Bench of Chief Justice PK Tatia and Justice PP Bhatt observed that for all the stated conditions, Koda and others could be treated on an outdoor patient basis.

It has been revealed in the affidavit that mostly, these high profile inmates of Birsa Munda Central Jail had been referred to RIMS. The four had been examined by a board of six doctors - RK Jha, I Prasad, VK Jain, NK Jha, SK Tulsyan and JK Mitra - who had referred them to All India Institute of Medical Sciences without any serious disease.
