RSS organises meet to help strengthen BJP
As the RSS succeeded in bringing warring leaders of the Karnataka BJP together, the message to former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa was clear - go with the flow and help strengthen the party.

This has upset a group which wants Yeddyurappa to get back chief ministership. It is also learnt that there will be one more meeting soon to iron out remaining differences. A marathon meeting had been held in Bangalore on Wednesday at the RSS’ behest, with all top-ranking State BJP leaders, including Yeddyurappa, to end the turmoil over leadership.

The meeting was held at BJP MLC and close aide of Yeddyurappa Lehar Singh’s house and was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Yeddyurappa and State party chief KS Eshwarappa, apart from other senior Ministers and leaders.

A source confirmed to The Pioneer that the meeting succeeded in bringing the leaders together and sorted out some differences between Yeddyurappa and party state president KS Eshwarappa. “The RSS elicited opinions and asked leaders to strengthen the party,” the source added.

He added, “The RSS told leaders to continue the present set-up and specifically asked Yeddyurappa to come clean out of all court cases to lead the party. It added that leaders must build the party in view of the elections ahead. They (RSS) made it clear that there is no leadership change at this juncture.” Coming out of the meeting, Yeddyurappa had told the media that the RSS guided him to overcome the confusion. He also said he would tour the State along with other leaders. “The meeting with the RSS leaders was very helpful,” he added. However, Yeddyurappa was noncommittal on his demand for chief ministership.

Eshwarappa said “everything was sorted out” in the party and that he would work hard to build the image of the party. Law Minister S Suresh Kumar also briefed the media and added that there would be one more meeting to iron out differences.

Deliberations were supervised by senior RSS leaders including Maicha Jaydev, Dr Prabhakar Bhat, Mukund and Ravindra, besides Sathish and Santhosh, who have been nominated by the Sangh to oversee BJP affairs. BJP MP Prahlad Joshi, Suresh Kumar and others were also took part.

The intervention of the RSS in the Karnataka BJP at this juncture was significant. The meeting comes ahead of the visit of former RSS chief KS Sudarshan, scheduled for January 29.
