Praveen Reddy still critical; father, uncle leave for UK
As Hyderabadi student janagam Praveen Kumar Reddy was under critical care at the Royal Free Hospital in London, his father J Sudhakar Reddy and uncle Madhusudhan Reddy left the city for UK on Sunday.

Before his departure, Sudhakar Reddy, a businessman, told the reporters that 26-year-old Praveen was still critical after a major surgery as he had received three stab injuries. “Doctors have asked us to reach London as soon as possible in view of his critical condition”, he said. Reports from London said that Praveen was stabbed by unknown people at a birthday party at his home in Newham, East London.

The British High Commission officials granted the family members visa on Sunday following the intervention of the Government of India officials. India’s External Affairs Minister SM Kirshna had spoken to Sudhakar Reddy on Saturday and assured him the Government’s full cooperation.

At the same time, two officials of Indian High Commission in London along with others and two representatives of Telugu Association have reached the hospital. Meanwhile, a report from London said that the Scotland Yard has arrested three people of Indian origin in connection with the incident.

Initially, it had taken 11 persons in custody but others have been let off after recording their statements.

However, Praveen’s mother Jyothi could not go to London as she was in deep shock since she heard of the attack on her son.

Praveen’s elder brother Raja Shekhar, who stays in the US, also could not reach London as his Green Card papers were under process.

The news of attack on Praveen came as a bolt from the blue for the family as Praveen had spoken to them over phone only a few hours ago and informed that he was flying back to Hyderabad on February 17 to attend the marriage of his brother. “I am not able to understand how it happened, what exactly happened and who attacked him”, said his distraught mother. Praveen reportedly suffered stab injuries on chest and abdomen in which his liver was also damaged. Praveen Reddy had gone to London to pursue higher education in 2010 and had moved to his new residence in Newham two months ago.
