UP Lokayukta denies Minister poll break in notice replying

Turning down the plea of Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister Ramveer Upadhyay, who had sought time for replying to notices till the Assembly polls were over, Lokayukta on Monday instructed him to reply by February 17.

The Energy Minister had pleaded that he be given time till the elections results were out, cosidering his involvement in the hustings.

However, the Lokayukta on Sunday intimated him that the last date for replying in all cases was February 16 as there was no provision of giving unlimited time to any one under the Lokayukta Act.

The Lokayukta has also allowed time till February 17 to Energy Minister’s father Ramcharan Upadhyay and sister-in-law Ritu Upadhayay, who were required to file details of their properties and the source of income through which assets in various towns of state were purchased.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate of Hatharas has informed Lokayukta Justice (retd) NK Mehrotra regarding a probe being launched into the land grabbing case against Upadhyay and his family.

Hanuman Prasad Poddar, a resident of Hatharas had complained that his valuable land has been forcibly occupied by Upadhyay.
