India supports resolution on Syria
Taking a U-turn from the February 4 voting on a similar measure, India on Friday was among the 137 members of UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) that supported an Arab-backed UN resolution on Syria that impressed upon the Syrian side the “urgent need” to abjure violence and pay heed to the aspirations of the people of Syria. However it opposed any use of force by any third country and advocated a Syrian led political reconciliation. The resolution also calls for Assad to relinquish powers to his Vice-President.
