One more chargesheet against CPM big shots
Several prominent middle-level leaders of the Kerala CPI-M in Kozhikode district who were listed as accused in the case pertaining to the murder of rebel Marxist leader TP Chandrasekharan of Onchiyam in May last have now been named as accused in the case relating to the attempt to murder him back in 2009.
As per the chargesheet the police submitted in the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, Vadakara, Kozhikode on Monday, CPI-M's Onchiyam area secretary and Kozhikode district committee member CH Asokan is the first accused in the attempt-to-murder case. Asokan is the ninth accused in the case relating to the murder of Chandrasekharan.
KK Krishnan, member of CPI-M's Onchiyam area committee and Kunnummakkara local committee member KC Ramachandran are respectively second and third accused in the attempt-to-murder case. These leaders had figured as accused in the chargesheet in the murder case also. A total of 15 persons had been named as accused in the murder-attempt case.
Hired hoodlums Sijith and Kirmani Manoj, who were accused in the murder case, had also been named in the murder-attempt case. As per the case registered by the Chombala police in Kozhikode, a conspiracy to murder Chandrasekharan was hatched in August, 2009 and about a dozen attempts on his life were made in the two following months.
Chandrasekharan had allegedly become the target of the CPI-M in Kozhikode after he and his supporters floated a new outfit, the Revolutionary Marxist Party, following their departure from the CPI-M in 2008 over policy differences with that party in which they had served for long. He was hacked to death by a seven-member gang as per a reported CPI-M plot on May 4.
