Latest News from India - Pepper price at record high; Rs 570 per kg

divspan class=BodyText readability=6Mattancherry: The price of pepper touched an all time record high of Rs 570 a kg. On Monday the price for garbled pepper rose by Rs 800 per kg to touch Rs 50,700 per quintal and for ungarbled, the price was Rs 48,700 per quintal. It is for the first time in the history, the price of pepper crossed Rs 500 for a kg. pDuring the last three months, there was an increase of Rs 2000 per quintal. Traders believe that the decline in domestic production might have led to the increase in price. At the same time, consumption increased in Northern India and Kerala. In Kerala there was a decline of up to 40 % in production. As per reports, production will decline in the next season. This year Kerala's total production touched 35000 tonnes and last year, it recorded 50,000 tonnes. The import of pepper from Vietnam at the international market also lead to high demand for Indian pepper. Over 8000 tones are stuck at the pepper exchange due to lack of quality. br //p/span/divbrbrcentera href=http://www.wizardrss.comPowered By WizardRSS.com/a | a href=http://www.wizardrss.comFull Text RSS Feed/a | a href=http://www.amazon.com/RFID-Blocking-Cards-Identity-Protector/dp/B00CJHZLEWRFID/a | a href=http://www.wpzonbuilder.comAmazon Affiliate/a/center
