Thiruvanthapuram, Oct 29 : Stating that the Congress led Central government is mired in corruption, veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani has said that there have been widespread revelations of corruption involving key Central Government figures since 2009
Addressing a rally here, Advani said: "Never before have we seen happenings of this kind, when one after the other, some minister of the central government is being removed because of corruption, put into jail because of corruption. It has never happened before. But it has happened successively, continuously during the past two years."
Advani further said that such cases lowered the morale of a country whose international eminence is on the rise.
"This sense of confidence, optimism and self esteem has been severely undermined by these incidents in New Delhi," he asserted.
Earlier, accusing the Centre of pushing the country into a sorry state of affairs, Advani said he had not seen a weaker Prime Minister than Manmohan Singh.
"I am sorry to say that no government is more immersed in corruption and no Prime Minister weaker than Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This government cannot take a decision as its decision making process is paralysed. This is evident from the fact it has not taken a decision on Koodankulam issue," he added.
He also said that his tour has received overwhelming support from people all over the country.
"This Yatra has received much greater public support from the people than the earlier five Yatras. That in itself makes me confident that at the end of this Yatra, The people''s pressure would make the government act both on the issue of corruption, as well as on the issue of black money," he added.
