Rahman has three nominations at Oscar!!!!
Musician AR Rahman has three aces up his sleeves. He must be brimming with joy at the moment as his name appears thrice in the Oscar for Best Original Song nominations at the 79th Academy Awards. Among the 56 songs considered in the Original Song category this year, three songs come from Rahman and those are ?Chan Chan? from Water, ?Khalbali? from Rang de Basanti and ?Luka Chuppi? from Rang de Basanti. These three songs feature in Oscar?s long list. Confirming the news director Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra said, ?They?ve chosen the best songs from my film. The lyrics are the voice of the film. When someone leaves the theatre they have ?thodi si dhool,? ?lukka chuppi? and ?khalbali? on their lips. I am fortunate to have worked with Prasoon and Rahman for the music.? He also added that the film is doing its campaigning in Los Angeles and says that the first screening enjoyed an impressive 80-member turnout in Los Angeles with three more lined up there and one in New York.
Singer-composer Sukhwinder Singh who co-wrote the lyrics for Water. ?The song is based on Krishna raas leela. The energy is such that it doesn?t require a rhythm,? Rahman says. Final nominations will be announced on January 23, 2007 and the award ceremony will take place on February 25, 2007.
