Gautham has become one of the top achieving directors whose films are eagerly anticipated. Last year, his 'Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu' was a big hit. The audio release of his next film 'Pachaikili Muthucharam' has been done and the film is also due for release shortly.
Gautam has been accused of making films of only cops. But he disagrees. "I love thrillers, so I make cop films." He says his 'Pachaikili Muthucharam' and 'Vaaranam Ayiram' are not cop stories.
'Pachaikili Muthucharam' has a family background, though it also has thrills here and there. 'Vaaranam Ayiram' that stars Surya is about father-son relationship. "I've greatly enjoyed evolving this story. Among my films, this is quite different.
Like his earlier films, the usual team of lyrics by Thamarai and music by Harris Jayaraj works in this film too. Only the cinematographer changes from RD Rajasekhar to Ravi Varma and Aravind Krishna, in film to film.
