Mammootty and Padmapriya are getting awards for 'Karuthapakshigal' directed by Kamal.
Padmapriya has won more than 3 awards including Sathyan Award for 'Yes Your Honour' and 'Karuthapakshigal.'
In 'Karuthapakshigal,' Padmapriya smears her body totally with charcoal and more or less, plays a beggar. It's a comedy/emotional role. Mammootty has a mobile cart from which he irons clothes. Though the film did not do very well, it earned critical acclaim for Mammootty and Padmapriya's acting from the Kerala Film Critics Awards.
Talking about her award, Padmapriya said, "The commercial films I have acted in have received awards. In Malayalam, award winning actresses get more offers. In Tamil, they are cast aside."
Senior Malayalam actress Sukumari recently was awarded the Padma Shri and her comments created a sensation. "What use is this award to me? If I tell them I have got this award, will someone give me a seat in a train? Except for putting the award before your name, it is of no use in any way."
