Sometimes films get released after the actors in the film have been forgotten. One such film is 'Manikanta.'
'Manikanta' featuring Arjun and Jyotika was started about 4 or 5 years ago with great fanfare. Due to financial as well as other hassles, the film stopped half way and remained stagnant for a long time.
In the meantime, Arjun and Jyotika got busy with other film assignments, so when the producer had solved his financial problems, the leading stars did not have call sheet free to complete the film. When the film shooting started again, Arjun promised to give some free dates amidst his busy schedule. But Jyotika more or less refused to complete the film as she was tremendously busy, so the producer had to approach the Council for solution.
The Council ordered Jyotika to complete 'Manikanta' before proceeding with other films.
So, Jyotika completed her work in this film directed by Selva (Not the one who was recently murdered) but it has still been a long time in the cans and is only now to see the light of day. The film is produced by Malar Combines and music is by Deva.
After 2 successful hits like 'Pachaikkili Muthucharam' and 'Mozhi,' 'Manikanta' will be the third release for Jyotika.
