    Jo's last hurrah!

Atlast, the Arjun-Jyothika long delayed Manikanda is releasing this Friday. It will technically be Jo's last release, now that she is probably calling it a day from the big screen. Though Jo?s fans worldwide would like to remember Mozhi as her swansong.

Manikanda is a typical Arjun potboiler, with glamour, glitz and action. The film is directed by Selva and has music by Deva. The songs are all mass Dapankoothu numbers like- Inji Morappu?. and the remix of an old Sivaji Ganesan popular number Mama, mama?. in typical Deva style.

The film has the dubious record of being shot over the last seven years! Yes, Manikanda is actually the second film that Jo signed in Tamil, after her debut with Surya in Poovellam Ketapar in the year 2000! The producer of the film Chinna Thambi fame K.Balu, took his own sweet time over it due to his financial difficulties. At one time his distributors had alleged that he had scrapped the project!

As of today Jo, has only one more film to see the light of the day. It is Seeta Kalyanam in Malayalam where she is paired with Jayaram. Now all that is past, and let us hope that Manikanda will bring us back the memories of the chubby and bubbly Jyothika, the erstwhile queen of Tamil cinema.

Oh, it's really sad as she has started showing her real talent in films like Mozhi, Pachaikilli Muthucharam. We'll really miss her.
