The unit members of the big budget extravaganza 'Shivaji' were asked to burn Rs 60 Million...
Here's the story in detail.
According to the story of 'Shivaji', Rajinikanth, who returns from abroad, comes across a huge stack of cash amounting to Rs 6 crores (60 million). He then uses this money to build the college that his father dreams about.
Normally, when such huge stacks of currencies are depicted in films, they usually place a real note on top of the bundle and white papers beneath it. But, when it comes to Shankar, he wanted it to look as authentic as possible. So, he had ordered a printing press in Sivakasi, Tamilnadu, to print fake notes that look exactly like Indian Rs 500 and Rs 1000. The only difference was- instead of the Reserve Bank of India's seal, this one read 'Film World of Tamilnadu'.
As soon as the shooting ended, a dilemma began- should they destroy these currencies or keep them as studio props for future use. They decided to keep them aside.
But to everybody's rude surprise, one day they found these notes fluttering in the wind and clinging on the trees inside the compound of the studio.
Just to avoid trouble, the unit decided that it was safe to simply burn the currencies away.
