Another artiste to emerge from Kamal's family is his elder daughter Sruthi. After completing her course in music in the US, she has returned to Chennai.
She has studied music at the famous Musicians Institute in California. She has also done some music composition. "I knew my vocation in life was music when I turned 16," says Shruti.
She is right now fully engrossed in bringing out a separate video album. Apart from composing music, she also sings very well. When she was 12, she has sung with her father in 'Hey Ram.' She sings all the songs in her video album too.
Another talent she has inherited from Kamal is her ability to write poetry in Tamil, English and Hindi. So the lyrics for her album could be hers.
Last year, she took part in a fashion show as a model. That time, the question everyone had was whether she would become an actress. She said no at that time, but she could change her mind in the future. Right now she is more interested in her music that could slowly diversify into music for films.
