It was rumoured that Trisha or Bhavana would be the heroine of 'Vellithirai' but the final choice happens to be Gopika!
'Vellithirai' is the re-make of hit Malayalam film 'Udhaayanu Thaaram.' Like the title, the film is about cinema people. There are 3 important characters ? an assistant director, an actor who's desperate for a hero role, and a heroine.
In the Malayalam version, Mohanlal did the assistant director role, Srinivasan did the actor role and Meena was the heroine. In the Tamil version, these roles will be played by Prakashraj, Prithviraj and Gopika respectively.
Dialogue writer Viji will direct this film produced by Prakashraj's Duet Films. They are going to Switzerland to film the songs.
Another good news for Gopika is that she's to get the first award named after late actress Padmini and given by the Malayalee Association of America. Gopika will soon travel to US to collect the award.
Gopika will go to US, and then Switzerland. Lucky girl!
