What we had hinted at a couple of weeks ago in our gossip column has come out in the open now. Instead of working in 'Vaaranam Ayiram, Surya has given call sheet for Hari?s 'Vel.'Because of this, 'Vaaranam Ayiram'producer Oscar Ravichandran has given a complaint at the Producers Association.
Surya started shooting for 'Vaaranam Ayiram'on April 2 and in a 30 day schedule, the work went on smoothly without any hassles. The next schedule involved shooting in America and Afghanistan and while the producer was breaking his head over the visas, Surya quietly gave a 75 day call sheet to Hari for 'Vel.'He said 'Vel'comes first and only then 'Vaaranam Ayiram.?
There was a problem about who would co-star with Surya in 'Vel.'Hari as well as producer Mohan Natarajan felt Asin would be the perfect choice. Both of them went to Mumbai, met Asin and got her consent. Now that the heroine is ready, Hari is in a hurry to start filming.
Till now, Oscar Ravichandran has spent 5 crores on 'Vaaranam Ayiram.'If Surya goes off to work on 'Vel,'the interest on the 5 crores will accrue and the amount will double. There?s a law in the Producers Association and Actors Association that an actor should complete the film he has signed for first and only then take up other assignments. Ravichandran has asked the Producers Association to set this law into motion.
When discussions were held to sort out the problem, Surya wriggled out of it. If things continue this way, the man will be in big trouble like the navarasa nayakan. It is high time Markandeya put some sense into his son.
