Cannes was a film festival that was held once a year in France. The festival normally attracted the who's who of the film industry from around the world to showcase their works. But it now looks as if things are changing drastically now.
The Cannes festival 2007 has started to look more and more like International Film Festival of India with so many Indian films making a beeline for either debut or screening there.
There are two Tamil films- 'Veyil' and 'Mozhi', Manirathnam's 'Guru' and a handful of Hindi films that are going to be screened. This includes Amitabh Bachchan- Tabu starrer 'Cheeni Kam' and Bipasha Basu- John Abraham starrer 'Goal'. Malayalam films stayed away from this year's Cannes because, as always, they were running short on financial resources.
If the trend continues, then within the next few years, the show's organizers might as well change the festival's name to Cannes India festival!
