The summer of 2007, the peak business season for Malayalam films is coming to an end this Sunday, as Metrological department has predicted that monsoon will break out in Kerala on Monday, May 28.

It has been a very average summer season at the Kerala box-office. Among the films released in April ? May only Vinodayatra can be classified as a hit, while Chotta Mumbai may break even. The only winner and super hit of the year is Mayaavi.
Many theatres will be closing down for renovation and other work during monsoon in Kerala. There will not be any major releases in Malayalam for the next 40 days, as nobody is keen to see a film during the rains. Next big releases are only in July first and second week when Mammootty's Mission 90 Days, Mohanlal's Hello and Dileep's July 4 are due.
All eyes are on Rajnikanth's Sivaji which is releasing big in Kerala on June 15 in 48 centres and 60 screens, bang in the middle of the monsoon season! Last year Mammootty released his Prajapathy during monsoon, and the film was washed away.
