In 'Kaalai' there are 2 important roles apart from the hero and heroine. One is hero Simbu's aunt, the other is his grandmother.
Since the aunt character was a bit gross, Sneha fled with hands on her ears. So the chose the lady who is most apt for doing such roles ? Sangeetha!
For the grandma role, Simbu wanted Rekha and went to Mumbai and waited in vain for her to say yes. His magic worked with Mandira Bedi and Yana Gupta, but not with Rekha!
Simbu returned home and chose Seema, the Malayalam actress who is the wife of director I V Sasi. She did a glamorous debut in the Malayalam film 'Avalude Raavugal' and gave everyone sleepless nights! She acted in many films and became a popular heroine.
Seema is based in Chennai. The 'Kaalai' shooting is taking place now at Theni. Tarun Gopi is shooting scenes with Simbu, Vedika and Sangeetha.
They are to fly soon to Russia for shooting songs!
