Suman is playing the villain role in the film. But he wasn't the first choice.
Initially, Nana Patekar was considered for the role. He wasn't that keen on it. Then Shankar wanted Malayalam superstar to star in the role. He wanted to see the script and when he saw it, he didn't like it. He was also not so sure that the film would be completed on time. So, he refused the offer in spite of the huge paycheck. But it is a different story that he accepted Ramgopal Varma's 'Sholay', another film that is being delayed for as long as anybody could remember.
Shankar then wanted 'Ghajini' villain Pradeep Rawat in the role, but Rajini felt that it would be better if the villain was a south Indian. That was how Suman was brought into the film.
There is another trivia about the film- its assistant director was paid more than its heroine!
