Director G Siva is busy singing praises about Sangeetha's excellent acting as a dasi in 'Dhanam.'
Since the story is about dasis, shooting has been done at famous dasi centres in Andhra like Peddapuram and Silukoorpuram. The unit has returned now to Chennai.
Did you choose such a story to create a sensation?
"That is only one reason. For a long time, I have been thinking about the family life of dasis as well as their innermost feelings. That resulted in 'Dhanam.' Dasis give pleasure to those who come to them but after that, they are cast aside in all other aspects. I have depicted all these in 'Dhanam.'
Sangeetha initially hesitated to do this role but I convinced her finally. This role will be an unforgettable one for her. She will attain name and fame like Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. She also stands a chance to win the national award," says Siva.
Girish Karnad and Kota Sreenivasa Rao are some of the acting giants on one hand. Ilayaraja, Vali, Thota Tharani, cinematographer Jeeva and editor B Lenin are the other strong points of the film.
The next phase of acting will take place in Thirunelveli, Tenkasi and Ambasamudram.
