'Manichitrathaaz' is a film that is going to create records of sorts. Whichever language it was remade in, the film had turned into a huge blockbuster.
Its Kannada version was 'Aaptamitra'. Its Tamil version was 'Chandramukhi'. This was dubbed and released in Telugu under the same name too. Now, Priyadarshan is remaking it in Hindi.
Shobana was the heroine in Malayalam. Soundarya was the heroine in the Kannada version. Jyothika had played the title role in Tamil (but it was Nayantara, the other heroine who stood to gain the most from the film). In the Hindi version, Vidhya Balan is playing the lead role.
In the Malayalam, Tamil/Telugu versions, Vineeth had played an important role. He is going to star in the Hindi version too.
There is another strange coincidence- Fazil, P Vasu (the director of the Tamil/Kannada/Telugu version) and Priyadarshan are all Malayalis.
