The 'Sivaji' challenge has started already. From budget to ticket collection, 'Sivaji' faces challenge from 'Dasavataram.'
Kamal does 10 roles in 'Dasavataram' produced by Oscar Films Ravichandran and directed by KS Ravi Kumar. Asin does a dual role. Mallika Sherawat and Jayapradha also act in the film.
Kalaignar TV that had bought the TV rights for 'Sivaji,' has bought the TV rights for 'Dasavataram' also. After the tiff with Sun TV, the CM and his family joined Raj TV to start their new channel Kalaignar TV that will become effective from August 15.
Till now, Sun TV was in the forefront in buying TV rights to new films. Now Kalaignar TV seems to be its big challenge. Kalaignar TV has already bought the televisions rights of new films like 'Veyil,' 'Paruthiveeran,' 'Imsai Arasan' and 'Sivaji.' It is said they paid 4 crores for 'Sivaji,' a record in Tamil cinema history.
The shooting for 'Dasavataram' is not yet over but the record price of 'Sivaji' has already been beaten. Kalignar TV is supposed to have paid a price higher than 'Sivaji' for 'Dasavataram.'
"Kalaignar TV has bought the TV rights for 'Dasavataram.' They paid Rs.1000 more for 'Dasavataram' than what they did for 'Sivaji,'" says Oscar Films Ravichandran.
