Whenever he makes a film, Simbu tries to be sure that the film has all the ingredients that please the typical viewer. This includes lots of glamorous and scantily-clad second and third heroines. Now that item numbers have become very popular, it only gives him a better excuse to bring in more beautiful women in his films.
When he made 'Manmatha', he wanted to bring in Mallika Sherawat for an item number. That was the time when she was at the super-peak of her career. So, it was only natural that she didn't have the callsheets and the inclination to sacrifice her stardom and appear in an item number.
He therefore had to settle for the gorgeous Yana Gupta.
But this time, in his new film, he is adamant that he wants Mallika in the film. Now that Mallika's position in Mumbai is on a decline and she already is working in a south Indian film with Kamalhasan, she just might accept the offer this time.
