Actress and Bharatanatyam exponent Shobana deemed of her Maya Ravana dance drama in English at the Music Academy on 30 June. Noted cine artistes Naseeruddin Shah and Suhasini Maniratnam have lent their voices for the 90-minute episode.
The show is in aid of the Society for Development, Research & Training (SFDRT) primarily involved with the children of sex workers and HIV infected children with AIDS. The fund raised is earmarked for improving and training the afflicted children including minor girls.
At a media briefing in Chennai Thursday, Shobana felt privileged to be associated with such a project and for a cause. ?Every individual has a duty to contribute in getting rid of myths, social stigma and the problems associated with the disease?.
Of Maya Ravana, Shobana said that the concept was very close to her heart for a long time.
