In a jam packed Kamarajar Arangham, the 804 day celebration of 'Chandramukhi' took place.
The chief minister handed over mementoes to those who were involved in the film. The hero of the film, Rajini spoke. "I wonder if I will see such a function in my life. After 52 years, the record held by 'Haridas' has been broken by 'Chandramukhi.' It is indeed a big record. It is a matter of great happiness that the chief minister is here with us to celebrate this historic event.
I am happy my guru K Balachander is also participating in this celebration. I am happy my contemporary and friend Kamalahasan, who has been my inspiration when growing up, is here to share this joy.
When 'Chandramukhi' was started, people said Rajini has made films like 'Basha,' 'Muthu' and 'Padayappa' and what sort of film is this 'Chandramukhi'? They said it would not turn out right. Some saw the Malayalam version and said it was nothing great. Some saw the Kannada version 'Apthamitra' and predicted a mere 4 week run.
In a story, there is a mountain and there are 3 frogs waiting to climb it. People tried to scare them by saying there were snakes and scorpions. One frog climbed up 100 feet and fell down. The other climbed up 300 feet and fell down. The third frog climbed up to the summit. That frog was short of hearing. Rajini also is like that. He's hard of hearing. I learnt this from Sivaji, NTR and Kalaignar.
Let people say what they want. In life, we have to become deaf sometimes. Only then can we achieve some things. Otherwise, a life will be wasted," said Rajini in an inspiring speech.
