The news of director Jeeva passing away suddenly shocked all those who heard of it. Jeeva, aged 44, had gone to Russia to shoot for his latest film.
Hailing from Thiruthiraipoondi in Thanjavur district, started his film career as assistant cinematographer in Malayalam films.
He was assistant cinematographer for Tamil films like 'Agni Nakshatram,' 'Thevar Magan' and 'Gentleman.' He became independent cinematographer with 'Kaadhalan.' After that, Jeeva was cinematographer for many of director Shankar's films.
Jeeva did many experiments with cinematography and brought glory to Tamil cinema. He ventured into directing and delivered successful films like '12B,' 'Ullam Ketkume' and 'Unnale Unnale.'
He was shooting for his latest film 'Dhoom Dhaam' for which the whole crew including hero Jayam Ravi had gone to Russia where the whole story takes place. They were staying at St. Petersburg and after completing shooting today, he was to return to Chennai today.
But he suffered a massive heart attack yesterday and the film unit rushed him to hospital but he passed away on the way. He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters. Jeeva's body will be flown to Chennai tomorrow.
Only recently, there was gloom over the passing away of Mani Ratnam's brother Srinivasan in a trekking accident in Kulu Manali. Now the sudden passing away of director Jeeva has swamped whole of Kodambakkam in sorrow.
