    'Spatikam' remake runs into trouble

One of Mohanlal's highest grossers at the box office, 'Spatikam' is now being remade in Tamil as 'Veerappu' with Sundar C and Gopika in the lead roles. Bhadri is directing the Tamil version.

The film ran into trouble recently with allegations that the dialogues were stolen from someone else.

'Veerappu' has some very colorful and strong punchlines, like most Tamil films do these days. One such dialogue, it seems, was lifted from the verses of a certain poem written by Kashi Ananthan. The poet and his supporters claim that the director and dialogue-writer had used the lines without getting prior permission from him.

The issue became very serious when a political party in the state, Viduthalai Siruthai, decided to support the poet.

It is not clear yet if they want the line to be removed or if they want monetary compensation or just an apology and acknowledgement from the filmmaker.
