'In Harihar Nagar', directed by the Siddique-Lal duo, had rocked theatres almost two decades back, in 1990. It was a full-length laugh riot and people enjoy seeing the movie even today. Lal, who had parted ways with Siddique on the professional front and who had been concentrating on production, distribution and acting, now returns to direction with a sequel to this hit movie. The sequel '2 Harihar Nagar' has Lal as an independent director and is all set for release.
Mahadevan, Appukuttan, Govindankutty and Thomaskutty, the four unemployed young guys of 'In Harihar Nagar', are the central characters in '2 Harihar Nagar' too. They are no longer the easy-going young guys that they were earlier. They are all well settled in life. Mahadevan is in the Gulf and does business there, happily married to Sulu. He has a daughter too. Appukuttan, who too is happily married, is in Mumbai and lives there with his family. Govindankutty is in Kerala itself, doing business. His wife Parvathy and he still behave like young lovers and are still to have a child. Thomaskutty is the only one who is yet to get married.
It so happens that Thomaskutty's marriage is fixed and Mahadevan, Appukuttan and Govindankutty return to Kerala to attend his wedding. The four friends come together once again in Harihar Nagar itself, and naturally something is bound to happen. Maya, who is a crooner in a club, comes to stay in Harihar Nagar. The four guys are attracted to her. They realize that they are not as young as they once were and hence decide to change their looks. What all happens then, forms the plot of '2 Harihar Nagar'.
Mukesh, Jagadeesh, Siddique and Ashokan, who had done the lead roles in 'In Harihar Nagar', play the key roles in the sequel too. It's Lakshmi Rai who plays Maya. The two popular songs of 'In Harihar Nagar' are remixed and used for '2 Harihar Nagar' too. Cinematographer Venu is doing a Malayalam Cinema after a long hiatus. The film is all set for release.
