I think nurses do amazing work and should be commended for that. But doctors still have a lot more training and wider knowledge of medicine than nurses. Perhaps with more training providing they could be in a better position to prescribe medicine. At the moment however, I simply don't think young nurses would have the expertise necessary

As a professional each and every person is trained and capable of doing certain job. If the nurses and trained for it they may be able to do it. Also u shud keep in mind that its related to human life and considering the eligibility criteria for qualifying for medical degree & nursing and also considering the time spent on training and studying nursing and medical degree. I would definitely not support nurses prescribe medicine. However I would rather suggest the nurses to undergo training on medicine , if they want to prescribe. (I am neither a nurse nor a doctor).
After all whats the % of people qualify for medical admission and who cant be a nurse, easliy if one wishes to do so?

Some technical facts for debate
The research carried out by the University of Southampton, evaluated independent nurse prescribing is viewed positively by patients, doctors and nurses themselves, with patients citing accessibility as a major advantage when obtaining their medicine from a nurse rather than a doctor.
