    Money spent on marriages

This is some thing related to the dowry thing....
It is a common phenomenon ,in most places in india, that lot of money is spent on marriages. And in majority of those cases the burden is on girls side.
I would like to ask you all, is it really needed to spend this much money on marriages.
Or if its really unavoidable, should it not be shared equally between girls and boyz side?

Yes It's high time that we put an end to all these unwanted custom-- of dowry. There will be a very high decrease in female infanticide which is very common in India. Because a female child is considered a burden to the family just because she has to be given money at the time of marriage. Even in our own kerala people are competing who will wear more ornaments and most marriages are just a jewel mela .An effort to ban all thes things must be made by a joint task of alltogether

I think marriages have become more of a show off function.
Marriages are actually binding two people together, so I don't agree for the lavish ones.
I think now is time that both groom and bride should share the expenses!!!!!!!

If so much money is going to be spent on the wedding, then both sides should equally pay for it...

                            only once.

we, for indians, there is only one marriage!!(general!!!). I think, it can be celeberated!! but not too lavish!! An European celeberates his marriage(s) only in a small circle(s)!!!!!!!!!
