    Chettinadu fish curry

    Ingredients


    Fish- Half kg
    Small onion- 20
    Tamarind- a lime sized ball
    Green chillies silted- 6
    Garlic- 10 flakes
    Tomato- 1
    Chilly powder- 1 and half tsp
    Coriander powder- 2tsp
    Turmeric powder- Half tsp
    Salt - to taste
    Cumin seeds- 1tsp
    Fenugreek seeds- 1tsp
    Curry leaves- a few
    Coriander leaves- a small bunch
    Water- 3cups
    Oil- 2tbsp

    Method:

    Clean and slice the fish. Soak tamarind in one-cup of water for 5 minutes, and then squeeze out the pulp, strain.

    Heat oil, add small onions and fry till the onion turns translucent. Add the slit green chillies and chopped garlic. Add coriander, chilli, and turmeric powder and fry well. Add tamarind pulp and tomato (cut into 8 pieces). Cover and cook till tomato turns soft. Add the masala; (cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds dried and powdered) curry leaves, salt, fish and 3cups of water. Cover tightly and cook till the fish is done. Garnish with coriander leaves.
