DHAL RASAM
ingredients
thoor dhal cooked - 2 tablespoon
tamarind - small lemon size(extract the juice)
water 5 cups ( approx)
tomato - 2
rasam pwdr - 1/2 teaspoon ( optional)
pepper and cumin pwdr - 1 teaspoon ( coarsely powdered)
garlic - 5 flakes
jaggery - 1 small piece
red chilli pwdr - 1 teaspoon
curry leaves and coriander leaves- as required
salt - to taste
kayam (katta kayam is better than powder) 1 small piece
turmeric pwdr - 1/4 teaspoon
boil cooked dhal, garlic (crushed), all the pwdrs, deskinned tomato(chopped) with trumieric and salt. let it boil for 5 minutes. Now season it with mustard seeds and red chillies. At the end add curry leaves and coriander leaves.
Note. You can pressure cook the dhal with tomato and kayam. Mash well and then add the other ingredients.
variation:- reduce tamarind extract. Cook chopped pineapple for few minutes. Omit tomato. Pineapple rasam is ready.
