    Apple Pickle

    APPLE PICKLE


    Ingredients
    Big Sour Apples - 5 nos
    Red chilli powder - 200 gms
    Salt to taste
    Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
    Gingilly Oil or any Vegetable oil - 150 gms
    Methi seeds - 1/2 tsp
    Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp or as per taste
    Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
    Method:
    Fry methi seeds without oil in a kadai and powder fine.

    Peel off apple skin, and grate to fine.

    Place kadai on heat, add gingilly oil, let it become hot; add mustard seeds allow to splutter.

    Now add the grated apple pulp, and saute in oil let it loose water completely.

    Add salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder mix well; allow it to form a thick paste, keep heating for 10 - 15 mins.

    Add asafoetida mix well for 3- 5 mins. Remove from heat. This can remain fresh for more than a month.

    This is a wonderful side dish for curd rice, dosa, idly, chappati etc
