Police say they are treating the death of young woman found in a stretch of water as "unexplained".Officers were called to Porthmadog in Gwynedd at around 1400 BST on Saturday after reports that a body had been found in an "inlet of water".
North Wales Police initially said the death was not being treated as suspicious but now says it is "unexplained" and are investigating.
They are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
North Wales Fire Service were also called to the scene on Saturday afternoon and the police helicopter was also reported to be active in the area.
In a statement, North Wales Police said: "The death is being treated as unexplained at present and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated by a dedicated team of officers."
The woman has not yet been named.
