
A special service has been held in east Belfast to remember those who died in the plane crash which killed Polish Lech Kaczynski and his wife.Ninety-four others, including Polish military and civilian leaders, died in the crash in Russia on Saturday.
Hundreds of members of Northern Ireland's polish community packed into St Anthony's Church on Sunday.
The Mass was celebrated by Father Andrzej Kolaczkowski who ministers to Belfast's Polish community.
At the start of the Mass, the names of those who died in the plane crash were read out.
As that was taking place, members of the congregation came forward to lay roses and carnations at a side altar which had been bedecked with a Polish flag and a picture of the president and his wife.
Belfast vigil
Those attending the Mass said they were deeply shocked by the events of recent days and would draw strength from sharing their grief with their fellow countrymen and countrywomen.
A vigil was held outside Belfast City Hall on Saturday.
Polish and Russian officials said no-one survived after the president's plane apparently hit trees as it approached Smolensk airport in thick fog.
Russian air traffic control said the pilots ignored advice to divert to another airport.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the crash was the most tragic event of the country's post-World War II history.
