A man who was doused with acid over an alleged online affair with a married woman has broken down at the Old Bailey while giving evidence about the attack.Awais Akram, 25, suffered 47% burns and was left disfigured by the attack in Leytonstone, east London, last July.
He met Sadia Khatoon, of Walthamstow, on Facebook and MSN, the jury heard.
Her brother Mohammed Vakas, 26, and cousin Mohammed Adeel, 20, both of Walthamstow, and a 17-year-old boy deny conspiracy to murder.
Vakas has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, but his co-defendants deny the charge.
Mr Akram broke down as he gave evidence about the night of the assault during which he was beaten, stabbed and had drain cleaner containing sulphuric acid poured over his head.
Disfigured in attack
The attack has left severe scarring on his face, his right eye is closed up, he has little remaining tissue on his left ear and a shrivelled right ear.
The prosecution claim he was attacked after starting an affair with the married Mrs Khatoon.
Mr Akram and Mrs Khatoon were said to have started an intimate relationship in March or April 2009 after meeting online and they took risks to meet up, the court heard.
The victim was attacked after he returned from Pakistan following his wedding,
Mrs Khatoon helped to lay "a deadly trap", "whether willingly or under some pressure" after their affair was discovered, the court was told.
On the night of the attack, she asked him to meet her at an internet cafe.
Mr Akram said: "At that point I felt 'what difference would it make if I go and see?'."
David Markham, for the prosecution, asked Mr Akram if then left his home, but the victim put his head in his hands and Judge Brian Barker, the Common Serjeant of London, ordered a break in proceedings.
