    'Stranded' Moyles misses his show

Radio 1 breakfast show presenter Chris Moyles has missed his morning show after being grounded in the US because of the volcanic cloud.DJ Scott Mills stepped into his shoes, telling listeners: "Chris Moyles is stuck, stranded - imagine that."

Speaking on Sunday, Moyles described the situation as "a very, very surreal [but] kind of pleasant nightmare".

Drifting ash from the volcanic eruption in Iceland has disrupted flights in and out of Europe since last week.

    Travel chaos

Moyles - who was due to return to the UK on Saturday - told listeners to the late night Sunday Surgery show: "It started to become apparent to us on Thursday that actually it was worse than we thought.

"It's now like I live here - we've run out of pants and socks, I've run out of deodorant.

"I'm going to have to get my pants and socks laundered at the hotel."

The award-winning DJ added that satellite radio service Sirius Radio, which broadcasts Radio One in the US, "have studios in New York, so I'm going to see if I can get a studio and work and still do the show."

Flights in and out of the UK have now been cancelled for a fifth day, with knock-on effects for the entertainment industry.

This week's London premiere of teenage film starlet Miley Cyrus's new film The Last Song has been cancelled with the stars still in the US.

And pop diva Whitney Houston was forced to catch a car ferry to Ireland over the weekend to perform at Dublin's O2 arena. This article is from the BBC News website. ? British Broadcasting Corporation, The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.
