    Scottish Tories attack Lib Dems

The Tories have launched their General Election manifesto for Scotland with an attack on the Liberal Democrats.Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie said votes for the Lib Dems would lead to a Labour government.

The Conservatives, who won one Scottish seat at the last UK election, aim to return 11 Scottish MPs on 6 May.

Their manifesto, being launched in Melrose in the Scottish Borders, also contains a series of pledges for the 2011 Scottish Parliament election.

The party will promise to protect the health service and say Labour's tax proposals would take £20m a year from frontline NHS services.

Ms Goldie said: "Conservatives would protect Scotland's health budget, and make sure that health spending is prioritised in the right areas.

"Labour's tax on jobs will take £20m every year from the front line of the NHS in Scotland - the Conservatives would scrap Labour's jobs tax on doctors and nurses and use the money saved to tackle the postcode lottery code and make clinically effective drugs available all across Scotland."

Ms Goldie said gains made in previous Scottish budgets, such as 1,000 extra police officers and rates relief scheme for small businesses, had to be protected.

"We don't think the SNP are taking this British General Election seriously, but we expect it to take the Scottish budget seriously and to recognise that we have to play our part in Scotland in sorting out the public finances," she said. This article is from the BBC News website. ?
