    Lib Dems claim 'fairer policies'


    The Scottish Liberal Democrats are launching their UK election manifesto with a pledge to create green jobs.At an event in Edinburgh, the party will also outline its plans for reforming the tax system and "cleaning up politics".

    Meanwhile, the Tories will attack the Lib Dems' tax plans, while Labour will also continue their campaign.

    SNP leader Alex Salmond will be calling for a fairer deal for Scotland's older people.

    The Lib Dem manifesto is being launched by Scottish party leader Tavish Scott the day after nominations for the 6 May poll closed.

    Tax 'bombshell'

    Mr Salmond, who is taking to the campaign trail in Perth, said: "At the heart of the SNP's manifesto is a commitment to securing a fair deal for Scotland's older people.

    "If elected as Scotland's local and national champions SNP MPs will argue for pensions to rise in line with average earnings and will continue to resist Labour plans to scrap allowances for our elderly and disabled."


    Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie will be in her party's Argyll and Bute target seat to highlight details of a "Liberal Democrat Tax Bombshell".This article is from the BBC News website. ?
